Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

The website says 18+, but can we add a 17-year-old to our team?

Yes, as long as the majority of the team is made up of adults, we welcome high school athletes to join.

I mistakenly registered as an individual participant instead of joining a team. Now what?

No problem, we can easily move you to the correct team. Just contact us and we'll get it sorted!

What is the Canada Basketball Fee?

The Canada Basketball Fee is a $9 annual payment that goes directly to Canada Basketball (renews every September). We've separated it from the regular registration fee to ensure that it's only paid once per year. This change saves you money -- you now only pay it once per year, even if you play in multiple leagues or on more than one team in the same season.

For example, if you paid it for the Spring league, you won't need to pay it again for the Summer.

What is the Basketball Manitoba Insurance Fee?

The Basketball Manitoba Insurance Fee is a $37 annual payment made directly to Basketball Manitoba (renews every September). We've separated it from the regular registration fee to ensure that it's only paid once per year. This change saves you money -- you now only pay it once per year, even if you play in multiple leagues or on more than one team in the same season.

For example, if you paid it for the Spring league, you won't need to pay it again for the Summer.

Can we select our own jersey numbers?

Yes! Teams can choose their own jersey numbers during registration.

What if my team already has its own jerseys?

Great news! Jerseys are included free for the Summer 2025 season, thanks to our partners and new AI-powered stats system. This upgrade gives every player access to accurate, personalized stats and helps elevate the league experience. If your team wants to use its own jerseys, no problem --just make sure:
- Jerseys have numbers on both the front and back
- Each player wears their own individual jersey (no sharing or lending)

As we move beyond the pilot phase, we'll no longer be manually correcting stats, as this creates delays that affect the entire league. To keep your stats accurate, make sure each player wears a consistent, numbered jersey throughout the season.

*Note: Using your own jerseys doesn't change the team registration fee, since jerseys are being sponsored this season.

What if my team has more than 10 players?

Teams with up to 10 players will receive sponsored jerseys at no cost for the Summer 2025 season. If you have more than 10 players, extra jerseys are just $25 each --a great rate made possible through our league partners.

Are there any processing fees?

If paying be credit card, a 2.9% merchart and processing fee will be added to the total at checkout. This fee goes directly to the payment processor (not Peg City) and is non-refundable.

If you prefer to avoid this fee, you can e-transfer the FULL team payment to registration@pegcityball.ca -- just include your team name in the memo.

A quick note: To help us reconcile payments efficiently and keep things running smoothly, we ask that team administrators make one full team payment (rather than individual payments from players). If we receive multiple partial payments, a $50 admin fee will be added to the team's balance to cover the extra administrative work. Teams will be activated once FULL payment is received and reconciled.

How can I get my logo added to the website?

Just send your logo to info@pegcityball.ca, and we'll take care of uploading it for you.

What if a player is being too aggressive or not playing fair during a game?

Referees are responsible for managing player behavior during the game, including aggression or unsportsmanlike conduct. While they aim to catch all incidents, some non-serious infractions may go unnoticed—this is part of the human element of officiating. Even at the professional level, 100% accuracy is hard to achieve. If you feel something serious was missed or not handled properly, you can file a formal complaint with MABO (Manitoba Association of Basketball Officials), who oversee referee conduct and standards.

What if I have a problem with how a referee was calling the game?

We understand that not every call will go your way, and it’s natural to feel frustrated at times. However, our Code of Conduct encourages captains, players, and spectators to respect the decisions made by officials—they’re a key part of the game and do their best to make fair calls in real time. Like anyone, referees can make mistakes, and 100% accuracy is tough—even at the professional level.

If you believe there was a serious concern, such as unprofessional behaviour or officiating that affected the safety of the game, you can file a formal complaint with MABO (Manitoba Association of Basketball Officials). They oversee referee training and performance. We encourage this step only when truly necessary, and appreciate everyone’s efforts to keep the game respectful and positive for all involved—especially the players.
